Empires Cale Porter – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Murf’s Guns

At Empire High School, senior Cale Porter has built a reputation as one of the school’s most versatile and hardworking athletes. Whether he’s catching passes under the Friday night lights, knocking down jump shots on the hardwood, tracking fly balls in the outfield, or teeing off on the golf course, Cale gives his all in everything he does.

A true four-sport athlete, Cale plays football, basketball, baseball, and golf. What drives him is simple yet powerful: “Just wanting to be better than the person next to me,” he said. That competitive spirit fuels him year-round, no matter the sport or season.

Cale’s biggest role model is his dad, who taught him the value of hard work. “He has a great work ethic, and I want that,” Cale said. That dedication shows in his preparation; he believes success doesn’t come from the spotlight, but from the grind behind it. “It’s about putting in extra work behind the cameras,” he explained.

Among his favorite memories is dropping 32 points against Empire’s rival, a performance that solidified his place as one of the school’s top athletes. And when it comes to competition, Waurika tops his list of favorite teams to beat. “They think we’re their rival, so it’s always extra fun to win that one,” he said with a grin.

Cale also takes pride in the people around him. His favorite teammate to practice with is Cutter Rochelle, who “always gives 100%.” He also makes sure to acknowledge the unsung heroes like Johnathan McNair, saying, “He doesn’t get the touches he deserves.”

Off the field, Cale enjoys following Walkwithlane on social media. “He reminds me of our God when I get on social media,” Cale shared, reflecting his faith and gratitude.

Balancing school and athletics takes discipline. “It takes very good time management,” he said. And representing Empire means everything to him. “It’s a way to get our name out there and make our school proud,” he said. “All glory to God.”
