EMPIRE BULLDOGS
Coach: BRANT HAYES
9-2
OFFENSE
The Empire Bulldogs return plenty of key pieces on offense and look poised to build on last year’s impressive 9-2 campaign. With experience at the skill positions and strong leadership in the huddle, the Bulldogs have the potential to be just as explosive this season—if a few things fall into place. At quarterback, Bryce Shaver (6-1, 150, Jr.) is back after throwing for 737 yards and 10 touchdowns while adding 341 yards and four scores on the ground. His ability to extend plays and make smart decisions will be critical, especially against a tough non-district schedule that will test Empire early. One of Shaver’s top weapons is senior wide receiver Cale Porter (5-8, 155), who has been making plays since his freshman year. Porter hauled in 25 passes for 231 yards and three touchdowns last season, also contributing 61 rushing yards and two more scores. His quickness and experience make him the most explosive player on the roster, and his leadership sets the tone for the entire offense. With a core of returning talent and an aggressive mindset, the Bulldogs will look to keep defenses guessing and sustain drives as they navigate a challenging slate of opponents.
DEFENSE
While the offense brings back much of its production, Empire will have to replace several key contributors on defense. Even so, the Bulldogs still have standout playmakers ready to anchor the unit. Senior defensive end/linebacker Cutter Rochell (6-3, 180) is coming off a dominant season, recording 55 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and nine sacks. His ability to pressure the quarterback and disrupt plays in the backfield makes him a game-changer on the edge.
On the opposite side, senior defensive end Sean Allen (6-0, 175) added 66 tackles, three tackles for loss, and eight sacks of his own. His motor and toughness give the front seven an edge against the run and the pass. In the secondary, defensive back Porter posted 36 tackles and three interceptions, showing a knack for making plays when it matters most. With leaders like Cale Porter setting the tone on both sides of the ball, the Bulldogs are determined to compete at a high level again this fall.
