There is a lot of work that needs to be done in order to be successful at whatever you are doing. That holds true for athletes and Keirstin Schornick says that it is more than just the organized practices that are important.
“It has taken many hours of hard work during practice and practicing on my own time,” she said. “My dad always tells me it’s not always the work you do in front of people that will make you better but the work that is done when no one is around.”
Schornick is a sophomore at Duncan High School, where she plays outside back and wing for the soccer team. She also plays club soccer for Cosmos. Outside of sports, she is involved in Students Against Drunk Driving, Student Council, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Jolly Jills Club, and the National Honor Society.
Schornick appreciates all the teammates that she has but she has one that she likes to work against the most in practice.
“Addison Richards is a great player who is fast and extremely aggressive,” she said. “She knows the game very well and will not go easy on you. She pushes you to make you better.”
When it comes to opponents, there is one that Keirsten enjoys getting the win against the most.
“I like beating Mac because we have a good rivalry and it is always a good game.”
While she wants to be the best athlete that she can be, Keirsten knows that he has to be a successful student in the classroom in order to be able to play. She says that the balance can be tough but you have to know your priorities.
“It takes a lot of sacrifice of time with your family and friends,” she said. “It also takes discipline.”
On social media, Schornick follows a lot of people she likes to follow.
“i like to follow Lecrae because he’s a good influence and he’s a good christian role model,” she stated.
