Duncan’s Kally Williams – Mom of the Month – Presented by Rib Crib

By Ken Hansard

Motherhood is one of the highest callings that one can have, and Kally Williams of Duncan, Oklahoma, has never taken that for granted.  For all her intensive efforts with her family and community, and especially for what she does for the Duncan High School culture, VYPE is honoring Kally as one of our Moms of the Month.

Williams has five kids enrolled in Duncan Public Schools. Peyton is a freshman at DHS.  She runs cross country and track, and plays basketball and soccer. Brooklynn is a 7th grader at DMS and runs cross country, plays basketball, and soccer. Elsie is a fourth grader who plays soccer and basketball. Timmy is a third grader playing soccer and basketball. Oakley is in Pre-K, plays soccer, and is excited to continue in the family’s athletic tradition.

Kally is a mom who wears many hats.  She is the Teller Coordinator at BancFirst.  She also serves as the treasurer for the Duncan Track & XC Booster Club and is additionally the treasurer for the Duncan Youth Basketball Association.  Further, she actively volunteers in the kids’ ministry at New Hope Baptist Church. When asked what she likes to do with her free time, Kally laughed, “Free time?  What’s that? Any free time we get we love spending with family and friends!”

For Kally’s family, sports are a year-round commitment.  She helped start a running club in the summers, and she also helps coach youth soccer and basketball. When asked what is toughest about being a sports mom, she quickly responded, “The nerves! I think I get more nervous before a race than Peyton does. I know how hard she’s worked and the goals she strives to achieve. It’s nerve-racking before each race or game, but seeing her do what she loves is amazing.”

Finally, when responding to the question, “What do you love about Duncan?”, Kally didn’t hesitate, “Everything! Duncan High has been such an amazing experience for Peyton. Her teammates have taken her under their wings and are her biggest supporters. The community that DHS has created for every kid to find their place is remarkable. We love Duncan and are proud to be Duncan Demons!”
