They always say that team work makes the dream work, but you need dedicated athletes to make a team goal a reality. One dedicated athlete is Boston White. He says that “being a great athlete takes giving everything that you have and then giving a little more. It takes putting in the time and effort year round to achieve the goal of being the best teammate and athlete that you can be.” He not only talks the talk, but he also walks the walk by working out in his free time to keep himself conditioned and always ready for the next season; striving to be the best.
Boston’s love of sports began as soon as he could walk and being an athlete was in his blood. His grandfather Burl was a coach and later an athletic director, and his father and uncle both played football and were state runner-ups. His papa and his grandpa Burl played a large role in his interest to work hard, make good choices, and play the game.
Boston says that sports have taught him not to back down from any challenge ahead.
Boston is in his junior year in high school and is involved in track, FCA, STUCO, and NHS. His favorite subject is math, and his favorite teacher is his track coach, Coach Ledford. He loves going out to show his team spirit at other games and school activities. After high school, he plans on going to the University of Oklahoma to study Biology and later getting into medical school.
Boston’s favorite part about football is the bond between teammates as well as the excitement of going out onto the field and playing the game that he’s always loved. The highest moment of his career so far was when his team, the Duncan Demons, took the win against the Ardmore Tigers in November of last year in the last play of the game. His favorite moment was from the dog pile after that game; even if he was on the bottom and had a whole team of highschool football players on top of him. He says it was the best moment by far.
Boston’s advice to other athletes is to never stop trying. “When the going gets tough, which it always does, just put your head down and work a little harder.” With advice like that, it’s no surprise that he was a part of the 2023 All Area team.
