There is someone in each of our lives that makes an impact and helps shape us into the person we are and will become. Aaliyah Treat is lucky enough to have a couple of people in her life that fit that bill.
“My biggest influence and role model would be my dad,” she said. “He is such a remarkable person, he pushes me to be the best version of myself, and supports me in anything and everything that I do. Also, Mrs. Curry, my past English teacher and now psychology teacher has had the biggest impact on my life. She is so sweet and caring and always makes everyone feel loved. We also go over or are asked things in class and it’s always something you’ve probably never thought about and it just shines light into your life.”
In her senior year at Duncan High School, Treat is a member of the school’s volleyball and track and field teams. Outside of her sports, she is also involved in numerous clubs, including Distributive Education Clubs of America, the National Honor Society, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Youth Action for Health Leadership, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Key Club, and the Internship program.
During her career, Aaliyah has put in a lot of time and effort to improve her skills and become a better athlete. She knows that the work is important to getting where she wants to go.
“Hard work and dedication has led me to be successful in my sport.,” she said. “If I didn’t go to all the summer workouts to get in my best shape, If I don’t try my hardest every practice, and if I didn’t put in all the time and effort, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
The work that she and her teammates have put in has paid off on the court in what Treat calls her favorite moment.
“The highlight moment of my career would be when my team was down by numerous points against a difficult team and managed to rack up points and win that set,” she recalled. “It was an overall team effort and will forever be remembered.”
