Comanche’s Keeley Peacock
Comanche High School cheerleader Keeley Peacock is just as comfortable courtside leading chants as she is in the ag classroom designing banners for FFA events. The sophomore balances a busy schedule of cheer, academics and Future Farmers of America, but said the people around her make it all worthwhile.
Peacock said her favorite class is agriculture, where she has found a niche in the business side of the program. “I am involved in the ag business side. We make customized banners, and they go out to ag competitions, business and schools,” she said. She credits ag teacher and coach Connor Kelley as her favorite educator, saying the class has helped her grow skills that reach beyond the classroom.
The friendships and relationships she has built through school, cheer and FFA are what stand out the most to Peacock. “The friendships and relationships I’ve built over the years,” she said, are her favorite part of being involved. She added that her teammates “always push me to be better not only in cheer but also in my personal life.”
As a freshman, upperclassmen helped ease her transition into high school activities. “Any time spent with Avrie Lucy and Neveah as a freshman joining the team they went out of their way to make me feel welcome and a part of the team,” Peacock said. Now, she looks up to leaders like vocal teammate Lucy Boren and constant jokester Avrie Cook, who “keeps everyone laughing.”
At home, Peacock said her biggest inspiration is her dad. “My dad because he always pushes me to do my best and supports me in everything I do,” she said.
When she is not cheering or working on FFA banners, Peacock enjoys working out, powerlifting, running, tumbling and spending time with friends and family. No matter the arena, she said the same qualities matter most: “Determination and hard work are important in anything you put your time and effort into to!”
