Athletes put in a lot of work so that they can be prepared for competition. Having people that they can look up to is also important as they serve as examples for their life. Brodie Ridenour has a few people that fill that role for him.
“All of my coaches and my parents are my role models,” he said. “My coaches push me to be my best and my dad and mom always motivate me and support me. Pro golfer Max Homa is my role model for what he does for the game and he truly inspires me.”
Brody is a sophomore at Central High School in Marlow, where he plays basketball and golf. He says that representing his school and community when he competes is something that he is proud to do.
“Wearing the blue and gold means a lot to me,” he said. “It makes me feel a part of the community. Go Bronchos!”
Getting to where he is as an athlete has taken time and patience. But Brodie says that he is proud of the moments when he sees his work payoff.
“It takes hard work and dedication to be successful,” he said. “I also have to make sure that I work with intent. I think the highlight for me so far would be when I got my very first birdie.”
Ridenour loves the game of golf and he says that he has had some solid influence on his game.
“My very first golf coach, Jared Lewis, has really changed the way I look at golf,” he said. “He was truly a great friend and my current coach Dakota Hicks has really elevated my game and also is a great friend. My dad was the first person to introduce me to golf and used to always beat me.”
Ridenour says that his teammates are great and he is thankful for them but he also knows that they help him be a better player.
“Ethan has helped me get better no matter how many times he beats me,” Brodie said. “I really enjoy going up against him in practice. Luke is a beast of a basketball player and hits the ball far when it comes to golf. He is very underrated.”
