There are many decisions that parents have to make for their children throughout their life. One of the more important decisions is deciding what school they will attend. They have to make sure that they choose the right school that will be the best fit for their child. Carol Poage is the mother of two and she says that her kids attending Duncan Public Schools was a great choice.
“I love that there are so many academic and athletic opportunities that are available to the students attending Duncan High School,” she said. “And I also like that the administration and faculty are so supportive of everything the students are involved in.”
Poage’s daughter, Sarah, is a 2022 graduate of Duncan. She is currently in Nursing School at Oklahoma Christian University. Her son Jackson is in his senior year and he plays football and baseball for the Demons.
Carol is the SVP of Operations/Human Resources at Endurance Federal Credit Union. At the school, she is also a member of the football and baseball booster clubs and the 2025 Project Graduation Committee.
While in their high school years, students become more independent and look to do things on their own. But Poage says that making sure they know what needs to be done is important.
“I have always tried to make sure my kids know what their priorities are and that they always keep them in mind,” she stated. “Remembering your priorities and not having any regrets at the end of each day will make you a strong leader and someone others look up to. The toughest part of being the parent to a high school athlete is realizing that in order for them to be successful they have to figure out how to navigate the challenges that come with the hard times for themselves.
In her free time, Carol enjoys spending time with her family or reading a good book.
