The Lady Comets finished the 2024 campaign with a 13-15 record, but Coach Wright believes the growth and development shown last season will pay dividends this year. “We are looking forward to a successful season with growth and development,” Wright said. “The girls are hungry to work hard and get better.” That hunger is already noticeable as the squad leans on experience and team chemistry to push themselves to new heights.
Leading the way for Velma-Alma are three seniors who bring both talent and leadership to the diamond. At third base, Sterling McLain anchors the infield with her steady glove and strong defensive instincts. She is a vocal leader for the Lady Comets and sets the tone with her work ethic and focus.
In left field, Kaleigh Mathews provides power at the plate and hustle on defense. Her ability to deliver big hits in crucial moments makes her a reliable offensive threat, while her speed and awareness in the outfield help solidify the defense.
Isabella Davis rounds out the senior class, showing a selfless commitment to her teammates.
