With a new high school golf season on the doorstep, Duncan girls golf coach Josh Harris is looking for a big season from his squad.

“The expectations are always high because of the tradition that has been set by the previous teams,” Harris said. “Even though we are going to be a young team, we still want to play for a state title.”

The Lady Demons are coming off of a solid 2024 season. They won or placed second in almost all of their regular season events. They also finished third at state with two players finishing in the top ten.

Harris’ squad this season will look to continue the tradition of solid play and top finishes.

“This year we will be led by junior Laura Stewart and freshman Lily Thomas,” the coach said. “Both girls are looking to compete for an individual title also.  What sets them apart is they have an amazing short game and the ability to save par from anywhere. Returning starter junior Emma Evans will be anchoring the middle of the lineup and has made some major improvements this offseason.  Right behind her is freshman Berkley Morris and sophomore Madison Vonfeldt.  Both are expected to have a major impact as well.  It should be an exciting season.”

Even with all the excitement as they head into the season, Harris also knows that his team will face their share of challenges.

“Other than being young and lacking experience, we have had to overcome some injuries this offseason.”
