DUNCAN DEMONS

Coach: MATT TERRY

1-9

OFFENSE

Duncan head coach Matt Terry’s squad is ready to put last season behind them and start with a clean slate. They will look to their experiences last season to help them this season. “We return quite a few players who got thrown into the fire last season,” Terry said. “We will still be young in certain areas, but they have game experience. We will have a great senior class who brings a ton of leadership to this team.” Leading the offense at quarterback will be Sawyer Rice (6-1, 190, Jr.). Rice is a two-sport athlete and started on both sides of the ball last season. He looks to have a big season. Joining him in the backfield will be Tavion Holland (6-10, 175, Jr.) at running back. He has a great work ethic and started to come on strong at the end of last season. He will be a big factor in the team’s success this season. Rice will have a couple of solid targets on the outside at wide receiver in Boston White (5-10, 160, Jr.) and Sincere Young (6-2, 180, Sr.). The offensive line will work hard to keep the defense out of the backfield and away from Rice. Anchoring this crew will be Jacob Conn (6-2, 280, Jr.) and Corbin Waid (6-2, 240, Jr.).

DEFENSE

A trio of defensive backs will patrol the secondary for Duncan and work to keep the opponents’ big plays to a minimum. Jackson Poage (5-11, 175, Sr.), Daveon Carr (6-2, 180, Sr.), and White will be tasked with this. Poage will be a three-year starter. He is a great leader and is always ready to do whatever he can to help the team. White is a tremendous athlete that was a surprise impact player for the team last season. He should continue to be a key player this season as well. The guys up front on the defensive line will work hard to wreak havoc on opposing offenses. Garrett Henry (5-10, 250, Sr.) and Kashe Pierce (6-2, 260, Sr.) will lead this group. Jayzen Kortemeier (5-11, 170, Jr.) will have his head on a swivel at linebacker and work to keep the offense from advancing. Assistant coaches this season are Ross Carter, Tyler Wilkins, Grant Oliver, Chance Brooksher, Cameron Etheridge, Dewey Ivey, Spencer Cagg, Jordan Dotson, and Strait Ille.
