COMANCHE INDIANS

Coach: GARY ROBINSON

2-8

OFFENSE

The Indians will look to their experienced players to lead them this season. Coming off a 2-8 performance last year, head coach Gary Robinson’s squad is ready to get on the field. “We are looking forward to a good season,” he said. “Last season we only lost five seniors. We start the 2024 season with 12 seniors and almost the entire team back. The players will be a lot more mentally and physically mature with 10 games of experience under their belt.” At quarterback, Colby Shannon (5-9, 170, Sr.) will lead the offense. Last season he had 548 passing yards with three touchdowns, and he added 319 yards on the ground with three more scores. Also in the backfield will be running back Hollister Pollock (5-10, 180, Jr.), who ended last season with 370 total yards and a touchdown. He will look to make a bigger impact this season. Shannon will have a stable of receivers to get the ball to in Evan Dodd (5-9, 170, Sr.), Ty Lane (5-10, 170, So.), Ayden Reed (6-6, 210, Sr.), and Cooper Dobbins (5-6, 160, So.). Last season, Dodd had 181 receiving yards and a touchdown, Lane had 87 yards and one score, Reed had 40 yards, and Dobbins had 32 yards.

DEFENSE

The Indians’ defense gave up an average of 37 points per game last season. In order to be more successful this season, they will look to slow down their opponents and shut down the big plays. Leading that charge will be Shannon at safety. Last season, he ended with 43 tackles, 32 solo tackles, one tackle for loss, five interceptions, and a defensive touchdown. Dodd, who will also be at safety, had 32 tackles, 20 solo, and two tackles for loss. Up front on the defensive line, Brandon Lombard (5-9, 180, Jr.) and Reed will look to wreak havoc and cause problems for their opponents. Last season saw them combine for 65 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, three sacks, and a fumble recovery. At linebacker, the Indians have the duo of Kanon Clift (6-1, 185, Jr.) and Brylan Sweat (6-1, 185, Sr.), both of whom are outstanding athletes and hard workers. Last year, Sweat registered 38 tackles, six tackles for loss, and a sack, while Clift had 19 tackles, and a tackle for loss. Assistant coaches this season are Bode Grice, Brian Blair, Charles Hefner, Fabian Reyes, and Craig Coheley.
