Rachel Myrko is the proud mother of two. Having two kids involved in different activities and sports can make for a busy schedule, but Rachel is happy to do what she can to help her kids and their teams.
“I believe it is important to help wherever you can,” she said. “I have been blessed with a career that allows me to be active in both my children’s activities. Whether it is serving on boards for high school sports, shopping for baseball concession supplies or coaching my daughter in little league basketball I know I am supporting my children and the program they love.”
Myrko has one son, Nolan, who is a senior at Chickasha Public Schools. He is a member of the archery and baseball teams. Her daughter, Jayci, is in the fifth grade. She is trying out different sports, but has a deep love for basketball. Rachel is the Regional Director of Great Plains Child Care Resource and Referral. They work to improve the quality of child care in fifteen counties in southwest Oklahoma.
While she is proud to be there for her kids and their teams, Myrko says that it can be a little tough sometimes.
“Balancing a career along with having multiple kids activities and trying to still show up for everyone is by far the toughest part of having a high school athlete,” she said.
Along with her job, Rachel also serves on the Chickasha Homerun Club board and the Chickasha Public Schools Foundation board, along with other school coalitions. She says that she is thankful for the community and how it supports the students.
“The Chickasha community is one of the most supportive communities you will find,” she said. “Local businesses and community members do all they can to support the local schools and athletes. I wasn’t raised in Chickasha, but I can say I am proud to be Fightin Chick and raise my kids in purple and gold.”
