Minco’s Aden Brummell – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Miller Excavation INC.

For Aden Brummell, a senior at Minco Public Schools, athletics is more than a game, it’s a way to grow, compete, and honor the community he represents. A standout in both football and basketball, Aden excels as a receiver and cornerback on the gridiron and as a point guard on the court. What keeps him pushing forward is simple: his team. “I want to win and not let them down,” Aden said.

His competitive spirit is inspired by family and faith. His older brother, Dane, has been a major role model, teaching Aden lessons not only in sports but also in living a life that honors God. Aden’s faith is central to his approach, reflected in his favorite Bible verse: Proverbs 16:3, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.”

Aden also credits Mrs. Schroeder, a teacher who encouraged him to step out of his comfort zone, as a major influence in both academics and life. This guidance, combined with his work ethic, has helped him understand the true meaning of success in sports. “Being successful isn’t just about being a great player,” Aden explained. “It’s about putting the team’s needs above your own and helping your team however you can.”

Some of Aden’s most memorable moments have come in high-pressure games. A career highlight was helping his football team come back from a 20-point deficit against Crescent, a game that showcased his resilience and leadership. When it comes to rivalries, Dibble stands out as a team he enjoys facing, thanks to the intensity and history of their matchups.

Practices are just as competitive as games, and Aden enjoys working alongside teammates like Landon McMahon, with whom he has grown up competing. At the same time, he appreciates players like Brody Mathews, whose hard work and dirty work often go unnoticed but are crucial to the team’s success.

Off the field, Aden is active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and he balances schoolwork and sports through careful planning and communication. For him, representing Minco means showing respect, competitiveness, and integrity. “When I put on that jersey, I am representing a whole town,” he said. “I want to make everyone proud.”

Aden Brummell is a student-athlete who leads by example, faithful, disciplined, and dedicated to both his team and his community.
