Maysville’s Danielle Reed – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by MidAmerica Technology Center

When students enter their high school years, they start thinking about what they want to do once they graduate. For some it will be going to college, while others may go directly into the workforce, or even join the military. Each student has to decide what opportunity will fit them the best. Danielle Reed already has her plans figured out.

“After high school I am considering OSU-OKC for Radiology Technician,” she said. “I plan to get my Associates Degree and become an MRI technician.”

Reed is getting a head start on her future career by taking the Health Career Explorer program at Mid-America Technology Center. She says that she is getting a lot of helpful hands-on experience.

“I decided to take HCE because it gave me the opportunity to become licensed as a CNA and look into possible healthcare professions,” Danielle said. “Tech is preparing me for my future by teaching real world skills and helping me learn how to manage both time and resources. I went to clinicals and dealt with real patients that taught me how to provide proper care for each resident I will encounter.”

If there is anyone considering attending MATC, Reed says that they should definitely give it a shot.
“I would really recommend attending Tech because there are so many different programs to choose from and you can get great licenses,” she said. “Tech is a great start to a career whether you are going to college or not.”

Reed is in her senior year at Maysville High School, where she is a member of the cheer and track teams. Outside of sports, she is also involved in the National Honor Society, the National Technical Honor Society, and HOSA.

Throughout her athletic career, Danielle has made a lot of memories with her teammates, but she has one that stands out as her favorite.

“My most memorable moment in sports would be going to NCA cheer camp over the summer,” she recalled. “I got closer with my teammates and made friendships I will treasure forever.”

Danielle has had a number of people in her life that have helped shape her into the person she is and will become.

“My biggest role models are my aunt and uncle,” she said. “They have pushed me to do my best in school and sports and supported me throughout my high school career.”
