Lindsay’s Riese Flood – Softball Spotlight – Presented by Shelter Insurance – Gerron Smith Insurance Agency LLC

Senior Riese Flood is a force for Lindsay softball.

The Leopard senior pitcher and shortstop has made an impact in helping her team to a 15-5 record overall and an unbeaten (7-0) in District 3A-1 action as of Sept. 8.

Flood already has plans set to play in college.

“The highlight of my career was 100 percent the day I committed to Arizona State University,” Flood said.

“I have played softball since I was four years old. I had a dream to play Division I Softball, and in September of 2024, I accepted a full-ride scholarship to play softball and continue my education

at Arizona State University,” she added.

She has taken a step in preparing her career for the Sun Devils by following the program on social media. “I like to see what they are posting and keep up with the team,” Flood said.

But there is one memory she would like to create in her high school softball career that would be greater, and that would be bringing home a gold ball.

“It means so much to me to represent Lindsay softball when I play,” Flood said. “I have grown up here my whole life, and I have always said that I was going to win state with this team. And though it hasn’t happened yet, we have made school history already, so maybe it’s in the cards for us this season.”

While Flood plays both shortstop and pitcher in school ball, she pitches only in tournament ball, she said. She also runs all relays for the track team during the spring

Outside of sports, Flood is also involved in the NHS and the LHS Student Council.

What motivates her the most? “I would say just having a competitive mindset,” she said.

Her dad has always been a big role model to her when it comes to sports, she said. “He played college football at SNU. He pushes me every day to be better and is tied with my mom as my  No. 1 supporter.”

What does Flood believe it has taken to be successful in her sport?

“A lot of hard work and dedication, but most of all just passion for the sport,” she said.
