The decision of what to do after high school can be a tough one to make. But getting a headstart on your future can be very beneficial. Manuel Aguero is a student junior at Lindsay High School, but he also attends Mid-America Technology Center. When he heard about what they offered, he knew he had to do it.
“I heard about Mid-America Tech from my school,” he said. “And I wanted to become skilled at something that did not involve sports.”
Manuel is taking the welding program at Mid-America Tech. He says that he enjoys it because it gives him a taste of what that job would be like if he pursued it.
“I chose the welding program because I thought it would be something that I would enjoy and maybe do in the future,” Aguero said. “I enjoy it because I feel like in this program, you are prepared for real work sites in the real world. It also helps you be more responsible and disciplined.”
Manuel has some advice for someone that is considering Mid-America but cannot decide for sure if they want to do it.
“Do it,” he stated. “It is a great opportunity that you will not regret.”
A dual sport athlete at Lindsay, Aguero plays football and baseball for the Leopards. He enjoys playing both sports but says the one thing he enjoys most about both is winning.
Throughout his life, Manuel has had people that have had an impact on his life. But he has a few people that have played a bigger part.
“My parents and coaches are my biggest influences,” he said. “They push me to be better in all ways as a student athlete and as a Christian.”
After graduation Manuel plans to go to college to play football or baseball and also earn a business degree.
