As a senior at Lindsay Public School, Addison Dodson has built a high school career defined by versatility, accomplishment and the steady support of the people closest to her. Whether she is on the softball field, the basketball court or cheering from the sideline, Dodson brings a competitive spirit shaped by hard work, faith and a belief that success must be earned.
Dodson competes in softball, cheer and basketball for Lindsay. In softball, she contributes as both a pitcher and third baseman, combining responsibility in the circle with a strong presence in the infield. She serves as a back spot in cheer and plays post in basketball, giving her the opportunity to impact every program in a different way.
Among the moments she is most proud of came on softball’s biggest stage. At the state tournament, Dodson hit a home run that tied her sister’s school home run record of 34 career homers. It was a milestone made even more meaningful because of the bond the sisters have shared through athletics.
“The time at state in softball when I hit a home run to tie with my sister for the home run record at 34 home runs,” Dodson said, recalling the achievement.
She also counts winning a state championship in cheer as a freshman among the highlights of her time at Lindsay. Those memories represent the payoff of the daily effort she has invested in her sports.
Sports have also strengthened Dodson’s confidence and faith. She has learned to trust herself, continue working through difficult moments and place outcomes in God’s hands.
“Everything will work out,” Dodson said. “You have to trust in yourself and put everything in God’s hands.”
Her parents have been a major source of inspiration. They have taught her not to quit when challenges arise, but to get back up after setbacks and keep trying. Their work ethic and support have motivated Dodson to pursue the things she wants in life with the same determination.
Dodson also credits her sister for leaving the biggest impression on her as a teammate. Her sister pushed her to become a better player, teammate and person, while also being present through both the highs and lows. That example has inspired Dodson to offer the same support to those around her.
Mrs. Bray has made a difference in Dodson’s life away from athletics. Dodson values her teacher’s willingness to listen and the life lessons she has shared about becoming a better person.
As she finishes her senior year, Dodson remains grateful for her parents, sister and coaches. Their encouragement, guidance and belief in her have helped shape a Bulldog athlete determined to keep working for every opportunity ahead.
