Bryer Lenaburg is a ninth grader at Hinton High School who is embracing every opportunity to improve, whether he is in the classroom, in the weight room or on the football field.
Lenaburg plays left guard and defensive end, positions that demand both physical toughness and mental preparation. On defense, he said the challenge often comes before the snap.
“The hardest part can be reading the play,” Lenaburg said.
Football has given Lenaburg memories he will not soon forget. His favorite came last season against Watonga, when Hinton connected on a dramatic final pass to extend the game.
“Hail Mary to take us into overtime against Watonga last year,” Lenaburg said.
That play is also Lenaburg’s favorite from his football experience. It stands out as a reminder of the excitement that comes with competing alongside teammates and being prepared when a game is on the line.
For Lenaburg, the most meaningful part of the program is the people around him. He appreciates a team culture built on encouragement, accountability and collective growth.
“Everyone is supportive and willing to help each other get better,” Lenaburg said.
He also enjoys the day-to-day work that takes place away from Friday night lights.
“Practicing all my spots and getting better on and off the field,” Lenaburg said.
Before games, Lenaburg keeps his pregame routine simple by listening to music. The routine helps him settle in and focus on his responsibilities for the upcoming game.
Football has already taught him lessons he expects to carry beyond high school.
“Hard work, teamwork, and trusting my ability,” Lenaburg said.
One of Lenaburg’s biggest influences is his father, whose support and guidance have made a lasting impact.
“My dad. He gives good advice and is always there to help me,” Lenaburg said.
He also looks up to senior teammate Eli Campbell.
“He is a senior and leader of the team. He’s a genuine guy that I look up to him on and off the field,” Lenaburg said.
Outside football, Lenaburg wrestles, power lifts and participates in FFA. In the classroom, math is his favorite subject, and he named Coach Draper and Mogg as his favorite teachers.
Lenaburg values the community support surrounding Hinton athletics.
“Hinton is a town who shows up and supports each other no matter what,” Lenaburg said.
