CYRIL PIRATES
GIRLS
Coach: Shane McLemore
23-24 Record: 22-5
Winning has become the norm for the Cyril Lady Pirates. Over the past five years, they have accumulated an overall record of 103-29 and two trips to the state tournament. And as a new season begins, they are looking to have another outstanding season. Head coach Shane McLemore likes the makeup of his team and has high expectations for this season. “We have been to the state tournament the past two years,” McLemore said. “We have four starters back and we also have an undefeated junior high team coming up. We should be one of the top teams this year. We play a tough schedule and that should have us ready for the playoffs.” Hadley Gibson (5-5, Sr.) will be one of the leaders on this year’s squad. She averaged 18 points per game last year and is also a great defender. Along with being an outstanding basketball player, she has won state championships in track three years in a row. Gibson is very competitive and works hard. Another player back from last year is Kenzie Raasch (5-5, Jr.). She can score off the dribble and also from the three-point line. She led her team in assists the last two years and is also a great defender. Just like Gibson, Raasch has also won multiple state championships in track. Last year’s second leading scorer, Khloe Goombi (5-5, So.), returns to continue to be a key player for the team. She can score on the inside and outside and is also a solid defender. Averi Carlson (5-2, Sr.) is a hard worker, great defender, and can shoot the three. She led the team in rebounds last year and can guard just about anyone on the court. Addison McHue (5-8, Jr.), Carley Meason (5-7, Sr.), Kiley Lawerance (5-8, So.), Emme Dean (5-6, Jr.), Evy Martin (5-7, Fr.), Landry Cocheran (5-5, So.), Ansley Meason (5-3, Fr.), Maddison Landers (5-8, Fr.), and Gabby Tallbear (5-8, Fr.) are the rest of the team that will work to help Cyril have another successful season.
