Chickasha High School junior Tyler O’ Neal is a multisport athlete playing both football and soccer for the Chickasha Fightin’ Chicks. In football, Tyler plays the positions of safety and receiver, while in soccer, Tyler is a goalkeeper. Tyler has played football for 7 years, and has played the position of goalkeeper in soccer for 3 years.
Tyler is proud to represent his school and his community as a student athlete. He feels exceptionally motivated to win as an athlete, as he believes there many teams in Oklahoma High School Sports that put pressure on Chickasha’s High School athletic teams.
Speaking of winning against opponents, there is one particular rival that Tyler enjoys beating the most. Tyler stated, “Anadarko is the team I love beating the most in sports, as they are our rivals.”
Many memories are made in high school athletics, and for Tyler the one that stands out to him the most occurred relatively recently. Tyler recalled, “My favorite memory in high school sports so far, was making playoffs in 2024 for soccer.”
Besides the successful 2024 successful soccer season, one of Tyler’s proudest achievements was going 6-2 in district soccer as a sophomore and also as a starter.
In terms of what it has taken Tyler to be successful in sports, he has adopted the following philosophy: “I would say it took me watching sports extensively, and truly enjoying playing them. If you don’t like the sport you play, then you are never really going to have a sense of discipline, and almost nothing is going to motivate you to become better.”
As far as what motivates him, Tyler stated, “What motivates me, is the idea that some people doubt me.”
In addition to being a student athlete at Chickasha High School, Tyler is also a member of the National Honor Society.
After graduating from high school, Tyler plans on continuing his education. Tyler stated, “I plan to either get a collegiate athletic scholarship for football or soccer, or to go to a pilot’s academy for aerospace.”
