Chickasha’s Lindy Butler – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Focus Federal Credit Union

Lindy Butler, a Chickasha High School junior cheerleader, lives by the 100% rule.

“I would say that I always make sure to give cheer 100% of what I have in me that day,” Butler said. “I’m not perfect, and my 100% looks different every single day, but I do my best to work hard every day.”

Her parents first instilled that value in her. Butler is the third of four siblings. Her brother, Pike, graduated from CHS in 2022 and is a student at OBU. Her sister, Emery, is a senior and Butler’s teammate on the cheer team. Her brother, Nixon, runs cross country and plays soccer at CMS. She considers her sister and brothers her best friends.

“My experience has been to never take family time for granted. My family’s schedule is jam-packed, so when my brother comes home and we all get to be together, it’s so special,” Butler said. “Or, when we get a free weekend, I try my best to always be in the moment, because I’m so lucky to have such a great family.”

Butler’s parents have been supportive of her and her siblings’ athletic careers. She first attended mini clinics hosted by the varsity team at 4 years old and later joined Chicklette Cheer coached by Miranda Molder.

“I grew up competing in All-Star competitions for Chicklette cheer, and once I aged out of it, Miranda offered for me to come back and be an assistant coach, so I did that for 3 years,” Butler said. “I don’t know if I would call myself naturally talented, but it’s definitely a passion of mine that I love to work at.”

Butler is a member of First Baptist Church of Chickasha, where she is involved on the worship team and student ministries. Her father has served as FBCC’s senior pastor since she was 3 years old. She is an active participant in FCA, National Honor Society and Oklahoma Honor Society.

“Chickasha is such a tight-knit community, and I’m so grateful to have so much support from the community,” Butler said.
