Every time Jarrett Patty steps on the mat for Chickasha High School, it’s clear that wrestling is more than just a pastime; it’s a reflection of his drive to succeed. Guided by discipline, focus, and an unwavering will to win, the senior has become a model of dedication within the program.
Patty credits his success to his dedication to getting better every single day. “It’s taken being obsessed with always trying to improve,” he said. That work ethic paid off during his junior season, which he calls the highlight of his career so far. Known for his sharp technique and relentless energy, Patty models parts of his style after elite wrestlers like Mitchell Mesenbrink, for his neutral offense, and Spencer Lee, for his dominance from the top position. But at the core of his motivation is his faith. “My role model would be God,” Patty said. “That’s who I look to for guidance.”
In practice, Patty pushes himself by training alongside teammates who match his intensity. He especially enjoys drilling with Colby Longanacre, who challenges him every day. “He matches the drill pace I like to go,” Patty explained. That kind of iron sharpens iron mentality defines the Chickasha wrestling room.
Off the mat, Patty is just as dedicated. He serves as Class President in Student Council and is a member of the National Honor Society, balancing leadership roles, academics, and athletics with a strong sense of responsibility. “It takes staying on top of everything,” he said. “Getting things done as soon as possible.”
Patty’s psychology teacher, who also serves as his coach, has made a major impact on his growth as both a student and athlete. And when it comes to representing Chickasha, Patty does it with pride. “I try to be a positive person so that my school and town are looked at positively,” he said.
With that kind of mindset, there’s no doubt Jarrett Patty will continue to make Chickasha proud, both on and off the mat.
