CHICKASHA FIGHTIN CHICKS
GIRLS
Coach: Jace Johnson
23-24 Record: 8-17
Experience will be a key to the Fightin Chicks’ success on the court this season. Head coach Jace Johnson says that the team looks to have a good season. “We are looking forward to having a much more mature team this season,” Johnson said. “Our junior class has been starting or playing major minutes since they were freshmen. Our kids have grown up a lot and understand the expectations that are required of being a Fightin’ Chick girls basketball player. It has taken some time, but this will be the first group that I have raised since junior high. I believe their toughness and knowledge of the game will be evident this season.” One of the members of that junior class is Mea Ginn (5-7, Jr.). She has led the team in rebounds the past two seasons along with being the second highest scorer on the team. She puts in a ton of extra work outside of practice time. Channing Haywood (5-8, So.) is another player that is expected to have a big season. She has incredible upside and athleticism. She’s long and has a great shot, along with being extremely quick and a knack for the basketball on defense. Other members of the team that will look to contribute this season are Ashlynn Smith (6-1, Jr.), Kayleigh Terry (5-5, Jr.), Addison Ferguson (5-5, Jr.), Carley Ryans (5-10, So.), and Olivia Wilson (5-4, So.).
