Chickasha comes into the season as a young team on the rise, built around a solid nucleus of returners at the plate and on the mound. With four position players returning and three experienced arms ready to lead the pitching rotation, the Wildcats have the foundation to compete. A couple of seniors and several promising underclassmen round out the roster, creating a mix of experience and developing talent.
Senior right-hander Brody Ross anchors the pitching staff as a McLennan Community College commit who has made significant strides over two seasons. In 2025, Ross threw 57.1 innings over ten starts, posting an 8-2 record with an impressive 2.44 ERA and a .230 opponent average. At the plate, he’s equally productive, hitting .319 with a .402 on-base percentage and 18 RBIs. His ability to impact the game on both sides makes him a dual threat that opposing teams cannot ignore.
Fellow senior Kiefer Woods, committed to Eastern Oklahoma State College, provides another experienced arm from the right side. The versatile Tyson Owens, a junior who can pitch and play the outfield, logged 44.2 innings last season with 32 strikeouts and a 2.03 ERA while also contributing at the plate with a .235 average and 17 RBIs.
On the offensive side, the Wildcats lean on juniors Lane Jay and Javier Nieto. Jay showed tremendous offensive potential in 2024, batting .404 with a .553 slugging percentage and 26 RBIs, though he dipped slightly to .242 last season. Nieto brings consistent production with 22 runs scored and 21 RBIs while accumulating 30 walks in 2025, demonstrating solid plate discipline.
As head coach, Kevin James builds his roster, he emphasizes the youth movement while capitalizing on key returners who have earned their positions through strong performances. The Wildcats’ balance of young energy and experienced players provides an intriguing blueprint as they push toward another competitive season in their region.
