Chickasha High School junior Brody Ross is a multisport athlete, playing both baseball and basketball for the Chickasha Fightin’ Chicks. In baseball, Brody plays the positions of both right-hand pitcher, as well as designated hitter. In basketball, Brody plays the position of forward. Many would consider Brody a sports veteran, playing both baseball and basketball ever since he was 5 years old.
As far as what it means to Brody to represent both his school and community, Brody proclaimed, “It means a lot. Chickasha has always had a good baseball team, and we are just trying to keep it going, and get back to state.”
Brody embraces a sentiment of gratitude as a student athlete. Brody stated, “I want to thank my mom and dad for all they have done. I also want to thank all my teammates and coaches I have had along the way.”
As far as what it has taken for Brody to become successful in sports, Brody stated, “It has taken a lot of hard work in the off season with lessons, personal training, and throwing every day.”
In regards to his biggest role model, Brody looks towards family as the source. Brody stated, “My dad is my biggest role model because he has been coaching me my whole life and has taught me almost everything I know in the game of baseball.”
During his academic journey, there are two teachers that stand out to Brody the most. Brody explained, “Mrs. Walsh was a favorite teacher, because she was my teacher in kindergarten and my sophomore year. She is great because she is supportive and holds her students accountable. Another favorite teacher is Mrs. Jantzen, because she has always been supportive of all her students.”
In terms of a favorite memory during his sports career thus far, Brody recalls two events. “That would be pitching and winning the championship game to go to the state tournament last year, and getting to pitch in the state semifinal game.”
After graduating from high school, Brody stated, “I plan on attending college, and I want to play college baseball.”
