Athlete Spotlight with Chickasha’s Brock Jerman – Presented by Sooner Nutrition

Brock Jerman is a senior at Chickasha High School. He began his golf career by going with his dad to play at a local course when he was younger, and has been playing competitively for six years. His favorite part about golf is that it is a completely solo sport. “You can only control what happens with you,” he says. The highest moment in his career so far, was being selected to represent Oklahoma in the Southern Junior Invitational.

Brock’s biggest positive impact is his dad, because his dad is always pushing him to get better. His biggest positive impacts are his friends Cody and Taylor. He says that the three of them are the best players of Chickasha. Brock personally has won regionals twice and is tied for the most wins in school history with 12 wins, and is also the class valedictorian.

Brock’s favorite subject in school is history, because he loves learning from our past. His favorite teacher is his English teacher, Mrs. Turpin, because she is always thinking of new ways to make class fun. In his free time, Brock likes to play video games, go fishing, go to basketball games,  and work on cars. After high school, he plans to go on to college to major in business.

Golf has taught Brock to have patience and to believe in what he can do. To be a great athlete, he says that it takes a lot of self discipline and dedication to your sport. Brock’s advice to his fellow athletes is to get a mental coach. “It helps a lot, especially with golf,” he says. When things get tough for Brock, his will to win keeps him going. It keeps him out on the green to keep practicing and to continue on with golfing in general. His competitive nature is where he developed a love for being at the top of the leaderboard, no matter what he’s doing.
