It takes a lot in order to be the best, no matter what you are doing. Whether it is a school, a career, family, or something else, it takes more than just showing up to be successful. Kynslie Hunter knows what it takes and does her best to do it.
“For me to be a successful athlete, it has taken a lot of hard work and determination,” she said. “Something else that has always helped me is my family because they motivate and support me.”
Kynslie is a senior at Anadarko High School, where she runs cross country and track for the Warriors. She is also involved in the student council.
Over her career, Hunter has seen the work that she has put in pay off through a lot of great memories during her competition. One of her top memories is something that she is very proud of.
“I think the highlight of my career is making it to state in cross country three years in a row,” she said proudly.
As a member of both track and cross country teams, Kynslie has run alongside a number of different teammates that have also played a role in the success that she has achieved.
“Last year, I liked running with my teammate Leyla Saldana,” she said. “She was really good and pushed me everyday to become better. Sha’Carri Richardson is one I favor and look up to the most, just because she’s been through a lot but she’s still trying to pursue her goal.”
Along with her teammates, there have been other people that have helped Hunter become who she is today.
“The people that have had the biggest impact on me are my family and friends,” she said. “A teacher that has influenced me is Mrs. Zinn, because she has taught me how to be a leader.”
Wearing the Warrior uniform when she runs is something that is special to her because Hunter knows that she is doing it for more than just herself.
“It means a lot to me because it makes me feel good and it makes me feel like I’m setting a good example,” she said.
