Anadarko’s DaeLena Tsonetokoy – Tennis Spotlight – Presented by Shelter Insurance-Samantha Wallis Agency

Throughout her high school career, DaeLena Tsonetokoy has invested a lot of time and effort to be the best she can when she competes. And with all of her work, she has been able to see it pay off.

“In order to be successful, it takes a lot of compromise and sacrifices,” she said. “The highlight of my career would have to be getting the chance to play in the state tournament.”

DaeLena is a senior at Anadarko High School, where she is a member of the tennis team. She is also part of the National Honor Society, Art Club, and the Native American Club.

As a student-athlete, DaeLena works hard to be successful, both academically and athletically. While it can be tough sometimes, she says that you just have to make it all work.
“You have to be able to understand all perspectives,” she said. “That and just going with the flow everyday.”

Throughout her life, Tsonetokoy has had people in her life that have helped shape her into the person that she is today and will become.

“My biggest role models would be my aunts and moms,” she said. “They always encourage me. My family would be my biggest motivation.”

Laci Tompkins, the head tennis coach at Anadarko, knows that Tsonetokoy is an outstanding tennis player and is looking forward to a solid season from her.

“DaeLena has been to State her sophomore and junior years,” she said. “She made it to later in the second day, but then ended up with a groin pull that rendered her unable to finish. She is a fierce competitor and is a very tough competitor. She also leads our team and doesn’t allow slack from other team members. She is everything you would want in a player.”

When she is not practicing or playing tennis or working on school work, DaeLena likes to check out her social media accounts. And she has a few people that she enjoys catching up on.

“My friends because I can always look back on all of our adventures together.”
