Throughout an athlete’s career, there are moments that stand out for one reason or another. For some it could be a team victory, while it may be a personal achievement for others. Addy Thrash says that her favorite moment happened on the wrestling mat early in her high school career.
“My highlight moment so far would have to be winning Western Conference my freshman year,” she recalled. “It was really great.”
Thrash is a junior at Anadarko High School. Along with wrestling, she is also a member of the cheer team. Addy has spent a lot of time in both sports as she has wrestled for eight years and cheered for eleven years.
Addy invests a lot so that she can be at her best when she competes. She knows that if she keeps working hard, success will come.
“It takes a lot of practice and commitment to the right thing,” she said.
There have been many people in Addy’s corner over the years, helping her become the athlete and the person that she is today. She knows their influence has been important.
“My biggest motivations are my teammates, parents, and my boyfriend,” she said. “My parents are my biggest role models. They make me want to be a better person everyday. In the classroom, my favorite teacher would be Mrs. Headley. She always made sure we made the right choices and she was very kind.”
When she puts on the Anadarko uniform, either for cheer or for wrestling, Addy knows that she is competing for more than just herself.
“Representing my school and community is a privilege,” she said. “It means that I need to do my best during any sporting event that I am participating in.”
The teammates that she is competing alongside have also played a role in her development.
“I enjoy practicing with Trinity,” she said. “We both push each other to become better. I think one of the underrated players on our team is Dayton Carey. He always works hard every day.”
After she graduates, Addy plans to go to college and hopes to become a veterinarian.
