Senior Kaleb Vasquez of Amber Pocasset High School is ready to hit the court for his final season. As a skilled shooting guard, Kaleb knows how to control the game and lead his team to victory. With his strong work ethic, passion for basketball, and discipline, Kaleb is determined to make his mark his senior year.
Faith, family, coaches, and friends fuel Kaleb’s passion in everything he does. His faith is especially important to him, as he always strives to put God first. When Kaleb was young, his granny loved watching him play basketball. “When she passed away while I was in sixth grade, I decided I’d keep playing to make her proud”, he shares. Since then, his hard work and dedication have truly made his granny proud from above.
When Kaleb looks back on his high school career, one moment stands out. During his sophomore year, he was given the opportunity to play a key role on the varsity basketball team. “I ended up being the sixth man throughout the second half of the season with a really talented group”, he explains. That opportunity jump started his continued success in high school basketball.
Kaleb also enjoys helping the younger class improve their game. His favorite teammates to work with are the freshmen who show potential. He loves guiding them and bringing out their talent on the court. “Working hard and showing up with a positive mindset, ready to compete, is what it’s all about,” he shares. Kaleb also leads by example off the court, emphasizing that school work always comes first before extracurricular activities. As a senior, he sets the tone for the entire team through his leadership and discipline. Above all, it means a great deal to Kaleb to represent his school with pride. Wearing his team jersey and showing strong sportsmanship is the example he strives to set for his town and community. Beyond high school, Kaleb hopes to find a well-rounded career, start a family, and serve in ministry through his church, sharing his faith and teaching others about Jesus.
