Amber-Pocasset Panthers

BOYS

Coach: Aaron Garrett

2023 Record: 18-11

The Amber-Pocasset Panthers head into the 2024 basketball season looking to build upon an impressive 18-11 campaign. Head coach Aaron Garrett is optimistic about the team’s prospects, highlighting their athleticism, depth, and relentless effort as strengths that will keep them competitive in every game.

“We’re excited about the potential this year,” said Garrett. “We have an athletic group with great depth, which will allow us to stay competitive in every game.”

Returning to lead the charge is senior forward Avery McComas (Sr.), a versatile player who excels on both ends of the court. McComas is expected to play a significant role in the Panthers’ offensive and defensive schemes. Senior small forward Jackson Nix (Sr.) brings experience and leadership to the team, providing scoring and energy in key moments.

Junior guard Brenden Romero (Jr.) will anchor the backcourt as the team’s point guard. His ability to distribute the ball and create opportunities for his teammates will be critical to the Panthers’ success. Fellow sophomore center Kayden Henderson (So.) adds size and toughness inside, making him a reliable option for rebounding and post play.

Freshman Cade Boevers (Fr.) and junior Kaleb Vasquez (Jr.) provide additional scoring options and defensive intensity. Both players have shown growth and are poised to contribute significantly this season. Senior forward Kale Jones (Sr.) and sophomore guard Damien Hawkins (So,) round out a deep and talented rotation that allows the Panthers to maintain a high level of play throughout the game.

The Panthers’ depth is further bolstered by contributors such as sophomore Cooper Allen (So.), freshman Chase Hunter (Fr.), and senior Michael Allen (Sr.). With a roster filled with athletes ready to step up when needed, the Panthers are set to make noise this season.
