Chickasha’s Ava McDonald
VYPE: How long have you played volleyball, and what is your position?
McDonald: I’ve played volleyball for seven years and I’m a setter.
VYPE: What first got you interested in the sport?
McDonald: In sixth grade my mom told me to try it out because she played when she was in school.
VYPE: In your opinion, what is the best part about playing sports in high school?
McDonald: It gives you a reason, other than just to do work, to come to school and do well in school. It also helps you learn how to work well with people and be a team player.
VYPE: What is your favorite memory competing?
McDonald: My favorite memory is last season winning our bracket at the El Reno tournament because that was when our team played our best.
“ ”VYPE: Do you have a favorite opponent to compete against? If so, why?
McDonald: My favorite opponent we play against is Blanchard because all my friends from club ball are from there and it’s always fun to compete against them.
VYPE: What motivates you to be your best?
McDonald: Knowing I have to be my best for my team.
VYPE: Which teammate is the class clown? Who is the leader?
McDonald: I think Baylee is the teammate that keeps the games fun for everyone, and I think the leader is sort of me because I try and keep us focused and motivated.
VYPE: Is there anyone you look up to as a role model, and why?
McDonald: My mom is probably who I look up to the most because she keeps me determined to do better.
VYPE: What are your plans after high school?
McDonald: I am still undecided in what I want to do but am in our internship program to help my decision and try a couple different things out.
