Lindsay enters 2026 after an 8-3 season and a heavy graduation hit, but head coach Sam Hembree still likes the core that returns for his 10th year in charge. “We graduated a large senior class, so we’ll be young in several areas, but we’re excited about the experience we have returning,” he explains, pointing to a group of underclassmen who saw meaningful snaps last fall. Hembree notes that “a number of our younger players gained valuable varsity playing time last season, which should allow us to remain competitive while continuing to grow
and develop throughout the year.” The goal is to lean on that experience, along with established program standards, to keep Lindsay in the mix even as new faces step into key roles.
On offense, only two starters return, but the unit has a clear identity as a spread, run-first attack built around a physical backfield and a key senior up front. Spread, run first, is how the staff describes the approach, a philosophy that should suit junior running back and VYPE Top 100 nominee Crew Flood (5-10, 175), who also starts on defense. Senior quarterback Isaac Cameron (6-0, 175) will direct the offense, while senior Will Lawrence (5-10, 200) and sophomore Aiden Self (5-11, 160) bring flexibility at wide receiever/running back, giving Lindsay multiple options to move playmakers around and create matchup issues. Senior lineman Scott Jones (6-1, 215) anchors the offensive front and will be counted on to help a largely new unit come together quickly. Coaches describe Flood as a threeyear starter who led the team in tackles and finished second in rushing yards last season, calling him a “hard-nosed, tough, and physical competitor who brings intensity on every snap” and noting, “We will work around him on both sides of the ball.”
Defensively, Lindsay returns just one starter, but Hembree’s staff again points to Flood as the tone-setter in a 3-4 scheme built to stop the run and not get beat deep. Flood lines up at safety and is expected to once again be a high-volume tackler and emotional leader on that side. The staff is confident that as new contributors gain reps, the defense will improve throughout the season, leaning on discipline and tackling fundamentals to stay sound
against varied offenses. With that kind of internal leadership and a proven centerpiece in Flood, Lindsay believes it can stay competitive while a new wave of players grows into expanded roles.
