HINTON COMETS
Coach: JOSH COOPER
5-5
OFFENSE
With first-year head coach Josh Cooper taking over the program, the Hinton Comets are preparing to build on last season’s .500 finish by leaning into an up-tempo, high-powered attack. The Comets will continue to operate a fast-paced air raid offense designed to spread the field, create mismatches, and keep defenses on their heels. Expect plenty of motion, quick throws, and a focus on getting athletes the ball in space. A key piece up front will be Diego Gonzalez, who anchors the offensive line at right tackle. Gonzalez is as dependable as he is dynamic, showcasing great feet that allow him to move side to side in the run game while excelling in his vertical pass sets. Coaches describe him as extremely coachable and the hardest working player in both the weight room and on the field—a tone-setter for the entire unit. With returning experience blended with a new offensive philosophy, the Comets are focused on developing rhythm early in games and forcing opponents to keep pace with their tempo. If the line can protect and establish the run when needed, this offense has the potential to put up big numbers on Friday nights.
DEFENSE
On the defensive side of the ball, the Comets will adopt a simple but aggressive mindset: attack the ball and hit hard. Under Coach Cooper’s leadership and with the support of assistants Craig Pruitt, Paul Wilson, and Casey Labrue, Hinton plans to play fast, physical football that limits big plays and forces turnovers. Whether in the trenches or the secondary, the defense is being challenged to swarm to the football and set a tone of toughness every snap. Expect a focus on fundamentals—pursuit angles, tackling technique, and discipline—as the Comets look to make their defense as impactful as their up-tempo offense. With a strong work ethic already established in the program and leaders like Diego Gonzalez showing the way, Hinton is determined to take a step forward and compete each week with a renewed sense of energy and purpose.
