Gracie and Hallie Smith are twin sisters who are seniors at Mangum High School. Both play softball and basketball for the Tigers. Let’s get to know them a little better.
VYPE: What accomplishment or memory are you most proud of?
Gracie: My favorite accomplishment is being on the all-district team and all-conference for two years in a row.
Hallie: The memory I’m most proud of is from our game against Merritt. It was 0-0 at the top of the eighth inning, and we put some great hits together and ended up winning 7-0.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade?
Gracie: My favorite teacher would be my pre-k teacher, Mrs. Skelton. She taught me to love school.
Hallie: My favorite teacher was my 11th-grade science teacher. She taught me what hard work and dedication mean and so much more.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?
Gracie: I played three years with Kayde Herndon, and throughout those years she taught me to be a more patient and dependable teammate.
Hallie: Several of my teammates have left an impression on me. Some have shown me to be a leader, and some have shown me that a bad attitude can cost you a game.
VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.
Gracie: Thank you, Mom, I’m so grateful for everything you’ve done for us! Your sacrifices don’t go unnoticed!
Hallie: Thank you to all of my coaches who have supported me throughout my high school career.
VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to?
Gracie: I look up to Jayda Coleman, she was known for speed, defense, clutch performance, and won 4 years in the WCWS. I look up to her because she was a star centerfielder at OU.
Hallie: I look up to Bri Ellis because she’s already making a huge impact in college softball. Her dedication and hard work are clear, and she’s proving herself as a force to be reckoned with.
VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?
Gracie: My mom’s homemade chicken casserole
Hallie: My favorite meal is a chicken wrap.
