Q&A with Altus’ Makenna Hayes – Presented by McDonalds

VYPE: What grade are you in and what sports do you play?

Makenna: I am a freshman at Altus High School. I play softball and basketball.

VYPE: What accomplishment are you most proud of?

Makenna: I’m most proud of when I was in 10u travel softball and we went undefeated at the USSSA State Tournament.

VYPE: Who has been your favorite teacher?

Makenna: My favorite teacher was my second teacher, Mrs. Herring. She always encouraged academic success with rewards and celebrations. She also supported and attended my little league basketball games. She never wanted to lose.

VYPE: Who inspires you?

Makenna: I am inspired by my dad. He always shows me the true meaning of being an athlete. I love his work ethic and passion for sports.

VYPE: Has there been a teammate that has had an impact on you?

Makenna: A teammate that leaves an impression on me is my best friend, Kylie Fixico. She is always encouraging and uplifting even when I am not at my best.

VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout to anyone.

Makenna: I would like to thank everyone that has supported and been by my side through my softball career. I also want to say thank you to all the coaches who have given me their time to help me improve in this sport. Most importantly I would like to say a huge thank you to my parents for giving me the opportunity to play the game of softball.

VYPE: What is your all time favorite meal?

Makenna: My all time favorite meal definitely has to be boneless honey barbecue wings with a side of sweet potato fries and a sweet tea.

VYPE: If you could go anywhere on vacation, where would you go and who would you take with you?

Makenna: My ultimate summer vacation would be going to the Bahamas because a dream of mine is to swim with pigs, and would bring my family and best friends.

VYPE: Who is another athlete that you look up to?

Makenna: I look up to former Oklahoma Sooner player, Tiara Jennings because she shows great leadership and sportsmanship.
