Q&A with Altus’ Lyla Bonds – Volleyball Spotlight – Presented by Work Ready

VYPE: What grade are you in, and what sports do you play?

Lyla: I am a freshman at Altus High School, and I play volleyball and tennis.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?

Lyla: Hayden Castillo because she always gives 110% in every game situation. She is an amazing athlete in every sport she does and always keeps the energy up on the court.

VYPE: What accomplishment or memory are you most proud of?

Lyla: Making it to state in volleyball my freshman year.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that makes you a better person?

Lyla: That if you want it, you have to work for it; becoming a better athlete isn’t just given to you.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?

Lyla: Being able to represent a school and community that is always so supportive.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade?

Lyla: I would have to say my second-grade teacher, Mrs. Herring. She left a big impact on me and always put her students first.

VYPE: Who inspires you?

Lyla: Jordyn Huckins is a very talented Libero. You can always count on her to get any ball up from tips to crazy hits.

VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?

Lyla: Chips and Queso.

VYPE: Are you involved in any other activities?

Lyla: Great Plains Volleyball Club, dance at Cirque Dance Studio, Kay Klub, and the First Baptist Youth Group.
