Giselle Rowell is ready to take the field while she kicks off her sophomore season competing in both softball and cheer. On the diamond, she defends third and second base, while also bringing her school spirit to every game and team event. Passionate about sports, Giselle is determined to play softball at the highest level.
Giselle recognizes her parents and Coach Stidham as being the people she looks up to the most. Her mom is her unwavering supporter. “She has never missed a game and she always pushes me to do my best,” she shares. Giselle is thankful her mom sacrificed so much for her so she can follow her dreams and never give up on what she loves. Coach Stidham has made a lasting impression on her since she joined the Mangum organization, encouraging her always to push her limits.
The most unforgettable moment Giselle reflects on is when she was honored with “All Tournament” at Olustee. She stood out as one of the most valuable players on her team. “It was a huge moment in my career, displaying how my hard work paid off,” she shares. Last year, her team also made it to regionals, a major accomplishment for Mangum High. This year, they’re striving for something greater, going the extra mile and seeking to push that ticket to state.
Giselle does not back away from a challenge; in fact, it drives her. That’s why she’s looking forward to facing Navajo friends, a team always known for bringing tough competition. What makes this game even more exciting is that its roster is filled with many of her travel ball friends, adding both rivalry and friendship to the game.
Ultimately, Giselle uses her passion for sports as her driving force to inspire the next generation. “ I want to show my siblings that hard work pays off and to always give it their best.” As she looks into her future, her goals are clear: to play softball at the university level while pursuing a degree in dental hygiene. With the athleticism, discipline, and fierce mentality she already exhibits, there is no doubt that she will fulfill her dreams. By Rose Hutchins
