Mangum’s Cayden Repp – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Chad Lee State Farm

What does it take to be a great athlete? To Cayden Repp, it’s putting the team before yourself. It’s getting up early for the workouts and staying after school for the practices. He tells us that sometimes it’s not a lot of fun giving up your free time, but that “at the end of it, you will feel like you’ve accomplished a lot.” Cayden is a senior at Mangum High School. He is active in football, powerlifting, wrestling and FFA.

Cayden has been on a team that has won District Champs in football his freshman year and 2nd place at the Greco State Tournament that year as well. The best part of his sports career is being in the trenches, blocking for their running backs and the quarterback. One of his proudest moments is when his team beat Comanche at their home opener, making a comeback after a previous loss. Sports have taught Cayden that “life’s going to be hard, but you have to keep working,” as well as having respect for himself and others.

His favorite subject in school is AP Art because Mrs. Stover lets him try out new things with art. Cayden’s favorite teacher is Mrs. Warner, because she makes FFA a lot of fun. In his free time, Cayden likes to hang out with his friends Avery, Jake, Jr., and others.

The person that’s made the biggest positive impact for Cayden is his football coach, Coach Powers. Coach Powers has helped show him right from wrong  and prepared him to be ready for challenges on and off the field. Cayden’s role model is his grandfather, for showing him work ethic, showing him how life works, and how to be there for someone.

His plan after high school is to join the United States Marine Corps and later go back to school to study coaching and sports medicine to be a football coach. Cayden stays motivated through the encouragement of his coaches.
