Hollis’ Charlie Robinson
Competing at the varsity level is tough. If it wasn’t tough everyone would do it. For Hollis High School freshman Charlie Robinson, that reality hit hard just before the start of softball season when she suffered an injury that sideline her for the season.
“This season started with me unexpectedly tearing my ACL at a preseason softball game. Once I returned from my surgery I was still not released to play. I will have to admit, sitting in the dugout pretty much all of the year was very frustrating but also was eye opening for me because when I looked around, I wasn’t the only one injured so I couldn’t just feel sorry for myself. I got to see everything from a different point of view,” said Robinson.
Prior to the injury, Robinson was playing shortstop or second base depending on team needs. Robinson liked what she saw from her teammates who were forced to compete without her.
“Although we had a really good season, we had a few tough losses during the regular season. It seemed those losses were centered around errors; however, I watched my teammates persevere and excel during districts and regionals with minimal errors resulting in playing very well against the No.2 team in the state,” said Robinson.
It’s a young team with great chemistry and Robinson is looking forward to making her return. Until then, she has turned some of her focus to FFA.
“I was involved in the 8th creed team and this year I competed in the opening and closing ceremonies. I also show pigs as one of my FFA projects,” said Robinson.
