By Mike Moguin

Anthony “Ant” Moncado is active in athletics at Olustree Eldorado High School. The sophomore runs in cross country, plays basketball, runs track, and is also involved with E-sports, which is multiplaying video competitions.

Moncado has won state competition in esports two times in a row, an accomplishment he is most proud of.

“What (sports) taught me was to never give up, keep practicing hard,” Moncado said.

When it comes to his favorite teacher, it is “Mr. Estes, because he told me there are and will be a lot of life choices to make to help me in the long run, like 401ks and taxes.”

Moncado is a fan of Brazilian soccer star Allison Becker. “I have always looked up to him and learned a lot from watching him play soccer,” he said.

What Moncado likes most about representing Olustree-Eldorado is “The fact that we got better than last year. (E-sports) Coach Whit (Matthew Whitaker) has helped to bring the team together and taught us to be a family. He has made a big impact on me and has helped me to improve so much, and the team also.”

The best advice anyone has ever given Moncado is “Sometimes in life, you just gotta be a peach. Some people hate them, some people love them, but at the end of the day, you’re still gonna be a peach.

Other activities Moncado is involved with include altar-serving at his church, being a referee for soccer games. and helping his grandma with mowing and weed-eating properties.

In closing, Moncado wants to give a shout-out to teammates Leo and Hayden.
