Altus’ Vanessa Vuittonet – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Jackson County Ortho

High school athletes have a lot of role models that they can look up to as examples of who they want to become. For some it could be a professional or college athlete, while others may look up to a celebrity or musical artist. But for Vanessa Vuittonet, the people that have the most influence on her are a little closer to home.

“Some of my biggest role models are my dad and brother,” she said. “They set the bar high for me and encourage me to keep going. My mom and my friend Kenzie are my biggest motivators. They push me to strive to become better, not only in my sports but also as a person.”

Vanessa is a junior at Altus High School, where she is a member of the soccer and softball teams. Playing for the Bulldogs is something that Vuittonet is proud to be able to represent her school when she is competing.

“I think it demonstrates teamwork for the younger kids,” she said. “And also our dedication to our community.”

During her career, Vanessa has put in a lot of hard work to become the athlete she is today. But she says that it takes more than just the physical work in order to be successful.

“It also takes a good mindset,” she said. “It is important to stay positive and uplift yourself and your team.”

Vuittonet has made a lot of memories while playing sports, but she says that a personal accomplishment is something that stands out as her favorite.

“I think the highlight of my career would have to be when I made the varsity soccer team in my first year,” she stated. “I also enjoy anytime we play against Elgin because they have always been a tough team to beat.”

She is thankful for all the teammates that she plays alongside on the field because they help each other grow and get better.

“I think my favorite teammate to practice against is McKenzie Harris,” she said. “We are close friends and also we are close in skill and no matter what it is, we make everything a competition. Also, Savannah Clothier does a lot for the team and I feel that she is underappreciated for what she does.”
