VYPE: What grade are you in and what sports do you play?
Vanessa: I am a senior at Altus High School. I am on the cross-country, softball, and soccer teams.
VYPE: What’s at the top of your bucket list?
Vanessa: Going to Japan! It’s a dream of mine.
VYPE: Favorite dessert and meal?
Vanessa: My favorite dessert is chocolate chip cookies, and my all-time favorite meal is chicken Alfredo.
VYPE: Which athlete do you look up to?
Vanessa: I don’t really follow professional athletes, but I’d say my brother, Kristopher Vuittonet. He always gave 100% in every sport he played, and that’s the kind of dedication I try to have too.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher?
Vanessa: My favorite teacher is Mr. Reyna because he’s always positive and sees the good in everybody. He brings such positive energy into the classroom and always supports his students.
VYPE: Who inspires you?
Vanessa: My mom inspires me the most because she has always believed in me and pushed me to be better, even when things were hard. She shows up constantly, even when she’s tired, stressed, or overwhelmed—she’s my biggest supporter.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?
Vanessa: Giselle Martinez has left the biggest impression on me. She pushes me to keep going when I feel like giving up. She’s patient, encouraging, and has taught me so much about soccer and teamwork.
VYPE: What’s the best advice anyone has given you?
Vanessa: “Failure is not the opposite of success, it’s part of it.” That reminder helps me keep perspective when things don’t go my way.
VYPE: Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give a shoutout to?
Vanessa: I’d like to thank my parents for never doubting me and always giving me the motivation to keep going. And a special shoutout to my mom for always being there and making sacrifices for me.
