In the summer of seventh grade Trinity Sucharski stopped playing softball and decided to try volleyball. She was a bit skeptical about her new sport. “I wasn’t the best and I had to drive 30 minutes to practice but I decided to keep going and as I got better, I began to develop a love for it,” she said.
Now a junior at Altus High School, Trinity loves volleyball. “It has always been so much fun,” she says, “the adrenaline rush when you are completely focused and zeroed in on a game ready to push your body to the limit just to keep playing makes everything worth it.”
Volleyball taught Trinity “you can’t do everything by yourself, you have to rely on others sometimes and it’s okay to ask for help,” she says.
A teammate leaving an impact was Chloe Rowland. “She is the sweetest person you will ever meet and has such a love for the game. She showed me what it looked like to be a great teammate,” she said.
Trinity’s parents John and Zereta Sucharski taught her work ethic, responsibility, and perseverance. Trinity is inspired by her mother. “She is a strong woman who kept her faith through difficult times and was always thankful for what she had. She has supported my sister and I through all our activities and has done it with a kind smile, whether from the sidelines of a court or from the stands at a ballpark.
“I want to thank my club coaches Ashley Wood and Katie Keiper. You both built me into the player I am today and continue to inspire and help me with my career. My school ball coaches Robert Garrison and Erica Jensik, you taught me the core concepts and how to be a tough player. I would also like to thank my numerous softball coaches who showed me what it means to be coachable and a utility player,” she said.
Trinity is a junior sponsor at Great Plains Baptist Association’s Kids Camp and helps with vacation Bible school at First Baptist Blair. She also attends Super Summer and Falls Creek.
