Altus’ Jammie Hamm – Mom of the Month – Presented by Jackson County Memorial Hospital – Women’s Health Associates

Parents invest a lot of time into their children’s lives, helping them learn and grow and become better people. Parents of high school athletes also invest a lot of time and effort in helping their kids become successful at what they decide to do. Jammie Hamm is the mother of three, one of which is currently in high school. She says that she works hard to keep her focused on the goal.

“Keeping my high school athlete motivated to do her best everyday is the toughest part of being a mom of a student athlete,” she said.

Jammie has three children. Kevin and Sydney, who are both graduates of Altus High School. Her youngest, Stephanie, is currently a sophomore at Altus, where she is a part of the cross country and track teams. Jammie is the Assistant Principal at Altus Primary School and the STEM coordinator for the district at the elementary level.

Being a part of a solid school district can not only play an important role in a students development, but it also can have a positive impact on the parents as well. Hamm says that the Altus school district and community have played a big role in her and her kids’ lives.

“I realized many years ago that it takes a village to support student athletes and keep them striving to be the best they can be,” she said. “The coaches and student body at Altus High School have always shown amazing support. ‘Bulldog Strong’ is our motto and I have always been proud to say that my kids have been a part of the Bulldog story.”

When she is outside of her job, Jammie has a few hobbies that she enjoys doing.

“In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family outdoors. I spend a lot of my time cheering on the Bulldogs at various events.”
