For Altus High School senior Juakeen Goodson-Robinson, basketball is more than just a game—it’s a reflection of his dedication, discipline, and pride in everything he does. Standing tall as the center for the Bulldogs, Juakeen has become a cornerstone of his team’s success, known for his strong presence in the paint and his quiet yet commanding leadership both on and off the court.
Juakeen’s motivation comes from the people who matter most—his family. “My family motivates me,” he said. “They’re the reason I push myself to keep getting better.” Among them, his dad stands as his greatest influence. “He’s taught me a lot of things, both in basketball and in life,” Juakeen added. That steady guidance has shaped not only his game but also his character, reminding him to stay humble and work hard no matter the circumstances.
When asked what it takes to be successful, Juakeen doesn’t hesitate: “Dedication.” It’s a simple word, but it perfectly describes his approach to the game. Whether it’s early morning workouts, long practices, or staying late after games to get in extra shots, Juakeen brings the same focus and determination every time he steps on the court. That effort led to one of his proudest moments—a high-scoring game that proved how consistency and hard work can pay off when you stay committed to your goals.
In practice, Juakeen enjoys competing against his teammate Levi, someone who challenges him every day. “He’s good,” Juakeen said with a smile. “He makes me better.” Still, Juakeen believes that everyone on the team plays a vital role. “We’re all family,” he said. “Nobody goes unappreciated.” That team-first mentality is a big part of what makes the Bulldogs special.Representing Altus High School means everything to Juakeen. “It’s an honor,” he said. “When I step on the court, I want to make my school and community proud.” Before each game, he gets locked in by listening to “Paint the City Red” by Lil Tony, a song that helps him focus and get ready to compete. With OU as his dream college and VJ Edgecombe as his favorite player, Juakeen’s future looks bright. His work ethic, humility, and passion for the game truly embody what it means to be an Altus Bulldog
