9 Questions with Navajo’s Sadie McDowell – Softball Spotlight – Presented by Chad Lee – State Farm Agent

VYPE: What grade are you in and what sports do you play?

Sadie: I am a sophomore at Navajo High School. I play softball and basketball.

VYPE: What accomplishment or memory are you most proud of?

Sadie: The accomplishment that I am most proud of so far is when I got the standout defensive award my freshman year.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that makes you a better person?

Sadie: Both softball and basketball have taught to work hard at everything I do, sacrifice things for my teams, and how to be accountable.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?

Sadie: Having a teammate like Alexa Hoffman has been such an impacting experience. Whether it be practices or games, she is always pushing me to be my best. She has an incredible ability to challenge everyone around her to reach higher and work harder.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?

Sadie: My favorite part about representing Navajo is just getting to be around and represent the great community of people around me.

VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to?

Sadie: I look up to former OU shortstop Grace Lyons. She was known for being a great leader on the OU softball team. I love how she used the sport as a platform to make the Lord known. Her faith shaped how she carried herself on and off the field.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade?

Sadie: I would say my favorite teacher would have to be Coach K, my eighth grade history teacher. His funny jokes and stories he had to tell always made class fun and enjoyable.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

Sadie: The best advice that has always stuck with me is what my Dad always says, ”Nobody owes you anything. You have to work for what you want.”

VYPE: Are you involved in any other activities?

Sadie: I am involved in Navajo Future Farmers of America where I serve on the Officer Team as Treasurer, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Council, Navajo Ambassador, and the biggest blessing is being a part of my youth group at FBC Blair.
