2025 Hobart Lady Bearcats Softball Preview – Presented by Southwest Crop Insurance

With all nine starters returning from a Super Regional squad, expectations are high for the Hobart Lady Bearcats heading into the 2025 fastpitch season. Armed with experience, talent, and a hunger to advance further, the Lady Bearcats have their sights set squarely on making a run at the Class 2A state tournament.

After a 22-win season in 2024 and a trip to the Super Regionals, Hobart enters 2025 with momentum and a veteran core. With proven talent in the circle and at the plate, the Lady Bearcats are poised to be a serious contender in a highly competitive Class 2A field. If they can stay healthy and continue to grow, a trip to the state tournament is within reach.

The Lady Bearcats will be anchored in the circle by junior ace Emma Gray, who enters the season with 35 career wins and is on the verge of eclipsing 300 strikeouts. Her poise, command, and ability to control the pace of the game will be a key factor in Hobart’s success. Lakyn Rose returns to provide valuable depth and support on the mound, giving Coach Binghom multiple reliable options. Defensively, the experience across the field should pay dividends, with seasoned players in every position ready to minimize mistakes and make the routine plays look easy.

Hobart boasts a deep and versatile lineup from top to bottom. Leadoff hitter Sage Norton returns as the team’s top offensive threat. As centerfielder and table-setter, her speed and consistency make her a tone-setter at the top of the order. The heart of the lineup features the powerful trio of Ella Rudkins, Emma Gray, and Rylie Polm—each capable of driving in runs and producing big innings.

Rounding out the lineup are Pearse Porter, Scarlett Pomroy, Harper Talley, Finnley Talley, Ashlyn Welch, and Toni Hodges, forming a dangerous and complete batting order with no easy outs. The offensive depth gives Hobart the flexibility to match up well against both elite pitching and tough defensive teams.
